HEAR Now is the audio equivalent of a film festival for fans, performers and producers of contemporary audio story-telling in all its forms: live and scripted solo performances, multi-voiced performance, classic radio drama, experimental narrative, and much more.

This four-day Festival offers a multi-faceted program showcasing the many forms of audio fiction and sound art story-telling in theaters and other “listening” venues. HEAR Now presents audio fiction programs that exemplify traditions of craftsmanship, as well as aesthetic and technological innovation.

The 2017 HEAR Now Festival will again be a gathering place where the work of master storytellers is celebrated and shared.

Audio drama, audiobooks, recorded, and live story-telling -- sketches, poetry, spoken word -- alongside academic papers, juried competitions, and presentations on the physics of sound, as well as performance workshops, will round out this intensive listening event for the 2017 Hear Now Festival.

The following schedule is still ’under construction’ and subject to updates prior to June 6, 2017.

The Importance of Being Earnest narrated by James Warwick and Alison Larkin

TV star James Warwick and award-winning narrator/comedienne Alison Larkin star in this accessible, dazzlingly funny two-actor production of The Importance of Being Earnest – a trivial comedy for serious people.

Join Alison Larkin and producer Stevn Jay Cohen in the session as they take us to 1895 England and introduce us to Algy and Jack, debonair bachelors-about-town who plan to court Gwendolen and Cecily, despite opposition from the formidable Lady Bracknell.

Jack was adopted as a baby, and discovering the truth surrounding his mysterious origins becomes critical to his future happiness.

This co-production between Alison Larkin Presents and Steven Jay Cohen is unique in that it is the first ‘full cast’ audio production performed by two people.

James Warwick is most famous for his starring roles on television including Tommy in Agatha Christie’s Tommy and Tuppence series on PBS for Masterpiece Theater. He has also played many leading roles on Broadway and in the West End, originating the role of Brad in the Rocky Horror Show, playing King Arthur in Camelot. His last Starring role in an Oscar Wilde play was in Peter Hall’s Production of The Ideal Husband on Broadway.

Alison Larkin is the award-winning narrator of over 150 audiobooks, an internationally acclaimed comedienne and the bestselling author of The English American, a novel. Hailed by The Times as “hugely entertaining” and by AudioFile magazine as “unparalleled – a narrator to seek out”, she is in her element playing all the women in Oscar Wilde’s most famous play.
